Ghana striker Jordan Ayew is heartbroken by the death of the former president of Olympic Marseille Pape Diouf.

Pape Diouf died on Tuesday night after suffering from coronavirus at the age of 68.

The former president of Marseille Pape Diouf was a very good friend to Abedi Pele, father of Andre and Jordan Ayew.

Jordan Ayew in expressing his heartfelt condolence posted a picture of the former journalist on his twitter page with these words "absolutely heartbroken. Rest in Peace Pape Diouf - My uncle, father, grandfather & godfather. My mentor,"

"I can’t thank you enough for all you did for me, Andre, my father and my family. Today is one of the saddest days of my life to hear of your passing," he added.

The intelligent African football executive and journalist helped the Ayew brothers settle in France when they arrived at the Marseille academy.

Pape who was president of the French giants from 2005-2009, was cool with Ghana's most decorated and celebrated footballer of all time Abedi Pele.

In the 1990s, Diouf represented top African players like Joseph-Antoine Bell, Marcel Desailly, Basile Boli, William Gallas, Samir Nasir, Didier Drogba and many others as their football agents.

Pape Diouf was appointed CEO of Marseille in 2004 and was voted the President in 2005 which he served for four years.

As a leader, he was one of the major players in French football, celebrated for his classy way of dressing.

Following Pape's retirement as president of Marseille in 2009, he matured into a sought-after speaker in sports conferences.
