Mikel as he was passionately called by his teammates is a Nigerian footballer. The Midfielder has contributed immensely to the development of Nigeria football and Africa football at large. Mikel Obi is well-known for his versatility in the football game. The Nigerian midfielder played alongside other great players during his football career. # 6 Vincent Enyama

Mikel's longtime partner with Super Eagles played the duo alongside the national team for the best part of the contract.

They were the key figures in the Nigerian squad during that period, which helped the transition in West Africa escape the demise of the golden generation before the start of a new era with Stephen Kishi.

The pair performed at the 2014 World Cup when Nigeria bottomed out at 16, they were part of four National Cup teams together, and they won at Afcon in 2013.

Essien came to Chelsea on a loan  from the Lyon Olympics and had a great football career for 'The Blues'

The Ghanaian force, often playing alongside Mikel, has redefined the position of the defensive midfield in general and is also a very effective defender when the need arises.


# 4 Nwankwo Kanu

Kano played alongside Mikel for several years internationally, with his first debut in 2006 and a veteran who remained on stage until 2011.

Together, they reached the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2006 and 2010, although both performed poorly at the 2008 event when the Super Eagles stumbled into the group before falling to host Ghana in the quarter-finals.

No other Nigerian player participates in the UEFA Champions League more than Kano (60) or Mikel (59).

While Okocha ended as soon as Mikel started his international career, Super Eagles appeared overlapping in the 2006 African Football Cup.

It was the tournament that Mikel considered himself a Nigerian player and scored after leaving the bench against Zimbabwe.

# 1 Samuel Eto'o

Samuel Eto'o came to Stamford Bridge at the end of his career, but still hinted at his ability to spend 12 months at the club, where he played alongside Mikel.

After playing with Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan, he joined the Portuguese manager in London in 2013 and managed an unforgettable hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Manchester United, one of his best performance for the blues.

Mikel made 24 appearances in the 2013-2014 season, although Chelsea finished the year without a trophy, the midfielder performed exceptionally in that season.
