British based Sierra Leonean and Ghanaian descent Idris Elba has tested positive for Coronavirus.

The 47-year-old actor said on Monday that he received his test results Monday confirming that he has the virus.

In a video he posted on Twitter, Elba said he feels “OK” and is currently exhibiting no symptoms of the virus

He also added that he had been isolated since finding out that he had been exposed to someone who tested positive for the virus.

He urged people watching his video to practice social distancing and be diligent about handwashing, emphasizing the point that there are asymptomatic people are out there like himself.

He also cleared the mindset some people have that the Covid-19 virus cannot infect 'blacks.' The actor made it clear saying the virus is pandemic and for that matter, everyone can be infected if care is not taken. He tweeted saying, “Stay home people and be pragmatic,” he wrote.

“Look we live in a divided world right now…but now is a time for solidarity. Now is a time for thinking about each other. There are so many people whose lives have been affected.”

Elba now joins the list of top stars tested positive to coronavirus, which includes Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson.   Watch the video on Twitter
